I emailed Mr Peppard, the report who wrote the above article to ask him how the auction went and how much was raised.
His reply was:

What I would give to have been there and had a spare $46,000 so I could have outbid the highest bidder but then my dilema would have been who to take
So if George knows he is playing MSG why won't he tell us? I live in NY and havent seen him since the last time he played MSG (in 1990). My poor heart can't take much more of this!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry Georgette no one in NY has a big home unless they are really rich. Sadly not the case w/ me. But I'll keep an eye out for any good hotel deals in the city]
